EXCELLENT Based on 13 reviews Posted on Tripadvisor Mike CVerified Best climb up Kilimanjaro Sele was exceptionally organized and made our entire trip seamless. His professionalism and leadership on the mountain are clearly respected by both clients and crew. As a tourism business owner in Kelowna, BC, I recognize operational excellence when I see it. I would confidently recommend booking a trip with Sele.Posted on Tripadvisor Jacek GVerified Wonderful guide! I highly recommend trip with Seleman! Way how he lead and oversee the expedition is superb! Only good memories from there. 😊 We did 6 day machame route.Posted on Tripadvisor DayTrip59679998409Verified Superb Experience Booked a tour as a solo traveler joining a group of five. The experience exceeded my expectations completely. Sele and the other guides were extremely experienced and knowledgeable about the mountain. Medical checkups were daily and the health of the group was never compensated. Food was amazing considering it was made at such heights and the hospitality of all porters and guides was amazing. On top of all, the price was considerably cheaper than other companies. Couldn’t recommend more.Posted on Tripadvisor Palak PVerified Incredible Experience with Sele Climbing Mount Kilimanjaro was an incredible experience, and a huge part of that was thanks to our guide, Sele. From the start, he was approachable, friendly, and clearly very experienced. He struck a perfect balance between professionalism and making us feel comfortable, which made a big difference on such a challenging journey. One of the things I appreciated most about Sele was how carefully he monitored our health. He took frequent medical checkups, checking our oxygen levels and asking about how we were feeling. It wasn’t overbearing—it was reassuring. Knowing that he was paying attention to our well-being gave us the confidence to keep going, even on the tougher days. Sele also had a lot to share about the culture and history of Tanzania and Kilimanjaro. I wasn’t expecting to learn so much during the climb, but he made the experience richer with his stories and insights. On top of that, he took the time to teach us some Swahili, which added a fun and personal touch to the trip. By the end, we were greeting everyone with “Jambo!” and encouraging each other with “Pole pole” (slowly, slowly). What really stood out, though, was Sele’s ability to adapt to our group’s needs. He was very aware of how each of us was doing and adjusted the pace accordingly. Some days, when we were feeling strong, he encouraged us to push a bit further. On days when we needed to slow down, he didn’t hesitate to adjust the schedule. It felt like he truly cared about making the experience enjoyable for everyone. Sele is also a surprisingly talented photographer. He was always eager to capture moments along the way, whether it was a stunning view or just us laughing together during a break. One photo that stood out to me was at a crest in the climb, he took a photo of us doing a jump that made it look like we were flying. The ground was completely out of frame and he captured it exactly! In fact, he was so creative that every other group there started copying our idea, leaving everyone out of breath from jumping. Thanks to him, we have some amazing photos that really capture the spirit of the climb. One of my favorite parts of the trip was the little traditions we created as a group. Sele led us in a fun call-and-response chant that became a rallying cry for our climb: Leader: “One team!” Group: “One dream!” Leader: “One dream!” Group: “One team!” Leader: “To the top!” Group: “Non-stop!” Leader: “Non-stop!” Group: “To the top!” Moments like these made the journey feel less like a grueling trek and more like a shared adventure. One time that stood out to me was when our Assistant Guide Kingu led the whole group in a beautiful song in Swahili. Singing songs, laughing, and chanting together kept morale high even during the toughest parts of the climb. If you’re considering climbing Kilimanjaro, I’d absolutely recommend having Sele as your guide. He’s knowledgeable, patient, and truly skilled at what he does. He made a difficult climb not just manageable but genuinely enjoyable.Posted on Tripadvisor AndiVerified Successful solo travel I had a great time with Sele and company! Ever the patient, they guided us through 8-days of hiking on Kilimanjaro without a hitch. Genuinely thankful for the warmth and kindness received from our guides.Posted on Tripadvisor Wander19992939439Verified Phenomenal service - incredibly knowledgeable, welcoming, and accommodating The founder of Goduru Travel is top notch. I cannot say enough about his expertise (Sele has worked in every position from porter to cook to guide). His passion for the mountain and his desire to ensure his groups have an unforgettable experience is evident. My group chose the 8 day Lemosho route because it offers the highest summit success rate due to adequate acclimatization time, a two-day descent (helpful for anyone with knee issues), and we got to experience more of Kili's magic. Sele was with us every step of the way, from the starting gate to Uhuru Peak and back. He was an absolute joy as a guide, answering our questions about the topography and animal/plant life, teaching us some Swahili phrases and songs, and ensuring that everyone was safe. I cannot say enough about how warm and encouraging everyone was. Our crew's positive attitude worked to keep my group's spirits and confidence high. We definitely attribute our summit success to our wonderful porters, cooks, and guides. This experience is one that will stay with me for a lifetime. Tips & lessons learned: I would highly recommend booking the private toilet. Use bug spray for the first couple days of the trek - the ants in the rainforest are no joke. Invest in solid waterproof items (one member of our group had waterproof socks, and we were all envious). For the summit climb, think about gloves that are not only warm but will stop the wind, particularly if you plan to use hiking poles. While the drinking water provided for the duration of the trek is said to be safe, out of the abundance of caution, you may consider using your own filter bottle and/or treating the water yourself as well.Posted on Tripadvisor Road26474014920Verified 10/10 experience. Highly recommend using Goduru for Killi! Goduru Travel was exceptional from beginning to end. The entire team demonstrated a high level of professionalism and care, making sure we were supported every step of the way. Everything from the meals / safety / support when hiking / medical checkups were top notch - always felt extremely supported and positive that we overcome any challenges towards successful summit which we did. We had regular medical checkups and the team kept a close eye on our hydration to give us peace of mind. There was healthy communication throughout the whole trip both when hiking and at camp making me feel comfortable at all times. I couldn’t have asked for a better team to guide us through this adventure. Their kindness, attention to detail, and ability to anticipate our needs made the journey enjoyable and safe. I would consider the team at Goduru lifelong friends! 10/10.Posted on Tripadvisor Jette WVerified 10/10 - would highly recommend The trip was well organised, and I felt well taken care of the whole time. You can really see that the whole team is well-experienced and wants to help you reach the summit. Beforehand, I was a bit concerned about the food because I am vegan, but that wasn't a problem at all. My brother got a bit sick on day 4, but they checked regularly on him and he was able to make it to the top. The whole team was super kind to us, which really helped so we would only need to focus on the actual climb. We had two medical checkups daily, got hot water for washing and three meals. They reminded us a lot to drink enough water, which is crucial when you want to make it to the summit. Also, I think they had a really good feeling about who needs some support, reassuring words or just some water to drink. If I would go back, I would definetly choose Goduru Travel again <3Posted on Tripadvisor togeVerified Great guides & great team of porters We just completed the 7-day Lemosho route trek up Kilimanjaro with Sele as our main guide. From day one, Sele and the team of porters (we had 17 in total for a group of 6) made us feel not only welcome but, most importantly, safe. The team conducted daily health checks, and we felt we were in good hands when dealing with the usual high-altitude challenges—like reduced oxygen levels or the occasional headache. They really took great care of us! The food provided was more than sufficient. Our cook did a fantastic job, even catering to the vegan in our group. The meals were overall quite tasty, though the focus was naturally on loading up on carbs to fuel our ascent—so expect plenty of rice, noodles, and chapati! Summit night was intense, especially since a few of us weren’t feeling our best the night before, likely due to the altitude. But thanks to Sele’s expertise, we continued steadily up the mountain, and in the end, we all made it to the top—some more exhausted than others—but we got there and back down safely. Overall, I can’t recommend Sele and his team enough. You spend 7–8 days with them, so it’s crucial to have not only a good group of climbers but also a strong connection with the team. We had an excellent rapport with Sele and his crew; they were incredibly easygoing, which made the journey to the summit all the more enjoyable.Posted on Tripadvisor Fearless55389689496Verified Journey to the peak I had the most incredible experience climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro with Seleman as my chief guide. From the very beginning, he displayed exceptional knowledge of the mountain and an impressive level of professionalism that put me at ease. His company provided top-notch service, ensuring that every detail of the trip was perfect, from the gear to the meals. Seleman’s patience and encouragement kept me motivated, and his expertise in managing altitude challenges was key to my successful summit. He genuinely cares about his clients, always going above and beyond to make sure everyone is safe and comfortable. If you’re looking for a guide who knows Kilimanjaro inside and out, Seleman is your guy – I couldn’t recommend his company more as an American!Verified by TrustindexTrustindex verified badge is the Universal Symbol of Trust.
