Our driver will meet you at Kilimanjaro Airport (JRO) and take you to your hotel in Moshi. Do not worry if you are slow clearing customs, our driver will be waiting for as long as necessary. After you settle in at your hotel, we will go through an equipment check with you. If any items are lacking, they can be rented at this time. Your guide will meet you for a thorough pre-climb briefing where all questions will be answered. For nighttime arrivals these things can be done the early the next morning.

Begin your trek from Momella Gate with an armed ranger escort, as the trail passes through Arusha National Park teeming with wildlife including giraffes, buffalos, warthogs, and monkeys. You’ll follow scenic trails through grasslands, dense forest, and waterfalls before arriving at Miriakamba Hut.

A steep but scenic trail takes you through montane forests and giant heather to Saddle Hut, nestled below the peak of Mount Meru. After lunch and a short rest, take an optional acclimatization hike to Little Meru (3,820 m) for panoramic views and a great sunset.

• Distance: 14 km / 8.7 miles (5 km ascent, 9 km descent)

• Habitat: Alpine Desert to Montane Forest

Depart around 2:00 AM for your summit push. Ascend steeply past Rhino Point and Cobra Point, reaching Socialist Peak at sunrise. From the summit, enjoy sweeping views of the crater and distant Mount Kilimanjaro. After taking in the scenery and photos, descend back to Saddle Hut for brunch and then continue to Miriakamba Hut for your final night.

Take a relaxed descent through the rainforest and open plains. This final day is a great opportunity to spot wildlife and take pictures. Arrive at Momella Gate where your driver will be waiting to transfer you back to Arusha or Moshi.

Breakfast at the hotel is included in the climb package. Our driver will be available at any time to take you to Kilimanjaro Airport. If you have booked a safari, we typically will leave just after breakfast. Checkout time at the hotel is 10am. If you have a flight departing later in the day, we will try to obtain a late checkout for you or arrange for a day room if you desire.
