FULL ITINERARY
Our driver will pick you up from the hotel. Begin your adventure with a scenic drive from Moshi to Materuni Village. Along the way, enjoy picturesque views of Kilimanjaro, lush banana farms, and the traditional Chagga homesteads nestled in the hills.
Upon arrival, you’ll be warmly greeted by a local guide who will introduce you to the history, customs, and daily life of the Chagga people. From here, the journey to the waterfall begins.
Set off on a guided nature walk through tropical rainforest trails. The walk takes approximately 45 minutes to 1 hour, with opportunities to learn about local plants, wildlife, and traditional uses of the land. As you approach the falls, the sound of crashing water grows louder—signaling your arrival at one of Kilimanjaro’s hidden treasures.
Materuni Waterfall is an awe-inspiring 80-meter cascade surrounded by verdant cliffs and misty air. Take time to relax, soak up the stunning views, and—if you’re feeling adventurous—take a refreshing swim in the clear, glacier-fed pool at the base of the falls.
After enjoying the falls, hike back to the village where a delightful cultural experience awaits.
Join your local hosts for a hands-on coffee-making session using beans grown right in the village. You’ll participate in every step—from roasting over an open fire to grinding and brewing—accompanied by traditional Chagga songs and storytelling. Enjoy your fresh cup with pride, knowing you helped make it.
Savor a delicious home-cooked meal prepared by local women, featuring traditional staples such as banana stew (machalari), rice, beans, vegetables, and seasonal tropical fruits.
You’ll head back to Moshi feeling refreshed, culturally enriched, and deeply connected to Kilimanjaro’s land and people.
